Welcome to H.L. Suverkrup, HLS is a true neighborhood school, with many families seeing several generations attending elementary school here, through the years. I hope you will find our school a perfect fit for your family regardless if you live around the corner or across town.
I am proud that H.L. Suverkrup is the No. 1 ranked elementary school in the City of Yuma. Every day, I am surrounded by 517 of the happiest, brightest, and most enthusiastic children around. Every child sets academic goals for themselves and works hard with adults on campus to reach their goals and prepare them for a future full of opportunities.

Leadership
My name is Trish Valentin and I am the proud principal of H.L. Suverkrup Elementary School.
I am currently entering my 27th year as an educator in the Crane School District. I’ve had the fortunate opportunity to work in many of our Crane schools as a teacher, professional development coach, assistant principal, and now principal. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University and my Masters in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. As a proud native of Yuma, I was also a student in the Crane School District and a graduate of Yuma High School. I am a proud mother of two children, Bryce and Alexis.
